No new news.

I just spent 90 minutes walking the trails around Northgate Park. I walked so much I ended up back home, and now I have to wait for Bryan to come home from work (any minute now) to take me back to my car. It was a sad, gray walk, and I was in tears by the time I got home. I found myself peering into little creeks as I passed them, actually looking for her body! But I have to keep telling myself that she is strong and she is still out there somewhere. As I walked into the house, I called for her again. We have opened the fence to the backyard, so that if she were to get home, she could come in through her dog door. Every time I unlock the front door I say a quick prayer that she will be on the other side, staring up at me, demanding dinner.

It feels like we are always one step behind her.

It really does feel like the whole city is looking for her!! Thanks to everyone for being our "eyes" all over town.

I'm feeling really down right now. But it does help to check my email and this site and get all the encouraging messages. Please don't you give up hope!!

What hurts the most is that I feel like I have let Bean down. She was trusted to us because we promised to keep her safe for the rest of her life. And now we have lost her. I hope she knows we are looking her her. That we have not forgotten about our little girl. That we never will.

Becky, keep the faith. When you least expect it, Bean will show up. My friend Patti, emailed the info to WRAL...so the word is out there. Just a matter of time...Keep your head up unless you are praying. Prayers are going up 24/7.

We don't know you, or Bean, but we know the feeling. You're doing all you can to find him and we'll do all we can up here in Wisconsin by praying like mad.

I know it's hard but try to keep up the hope that Bean will return. You are doing all the right things. She's been sighted near you so that's a great sign. She looks such a lovely dog. Good luck :)

We've sent the info out to the local Rescue Group Network....and to our Petsitter's Network. Bean knows you and Bryan love her very much and she WILL find her way home to you. There are already so many Angels out there keeping an eye out for her.

Bean's info is now posted on the Northgate Park listserv, so a lot of people will get her info by email shortly. I feel confident you will be reunited with her soon - tons of folks are looking for her!

I emailed Bean's story to the Durham Herald Sun - the Metro editor is looking at it. At least they're not ignoring it - so maybe it will run tomorrow. Keep the faith - she WILL come home.

She will be found, she will be found, she will be found!!

She managed to get away from that awful person who took her - now she just needs to be found or find her way home.

It will happen!!!

I agree...this beloved dog, Bean, can be found. There is a lot of people looking for her and that is a great thing. I e-mailed my son, who lives in the area, and I'm sure others have done the same. Hopefully, if someone has her again that they will feel pressure to release her to a specific spot, no questions asked. Maybe you can borrow an electric scooter or something to cover more area while you are searching? This way the walking won't limit the time you are out and about searching for her. Or at least a bike whereas you could coast some. I know you don't want to go too fast, but trying to come up with some ideas to keep you going longer when you are out. A person can only walk so much. Since she's been spotted running, this is a wonderful thing to know. Oh, keep in mind that dogs may travel more in the early morning hours or at dusk, to avoid all the hustle and bustle of the day. This may help you find her. She may be hiding more during the daylight hours. Prayers for her safe return. She needs to be back in her LL "Bean" bed and in your arms. -Claudia

My mom lives in SW Durham, and reads the TP list. I got this email from her just now:

"I read on the TP listserve about the pit bull that was stolen. A woman was putting up a dog-found sign at Massey Chapel and 751. I stopped to ask, as one of our neighbors has a stray at her house. This lady found a sweet pit bull yesterday or today and took it to the Durham Shelter, as she has five dogs and wasn't sure about the pit bull.I'm sure the owners of the one on the listserve are keeping in touch with the shelter, but thought I'd give you this info (I don't know how to post to the listserve). She is afraid they will put it down quickly since it's a pit bull and said it was a really sweet dog. It's unlikely that it's the same one, but look at "Hannah"!

Hope this is helpful! We'll keep our eyes open for Bean!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We drove from Carrboro to Northgate Park for our afternoon walk- just in case Bean would come out to play with my dog. No such luck. I hope she finds her way home soon!

Keep posting the sightings! I detour on my way home each evening and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

As a dog walker/pet sitter out and about in Northgate Park/Forest Hills/East Campus etc. on a daily basis, I want you to know I am looking and calling Beans name. As an animal welfare advocate involved in rescue, and as somone who knows many 'dog people,' I remind you of our collective juju.
She'll find her way home to you or you to her. Kindness is rewarded.

We also don't know you, and Bean. But we have helped more animals who were lost to find their way back home, like the rest of the cat blogosphere.

Bean, we are 10 Dutch cats, we PURR very hard for you. Please, you only have to follow the purrs to find your home and family!!

Purrs,
~Ruis
