She is home and HEALTHY!!

OK

I am taking a break from Bean's impromptu welcome home party (which she is sleeping through, she is so tired!)

The story is detailed, and Bryan is the one who really was there for the whole thing. He didn't call me until he had her safe and sound.

She is FINE. She has a scratch on the top of her nose, which she probably gave herself when she pawed her head collar off. She had one tick. Other than that, she looks EXACTLY like she did before she was taken! We are taking her to the vet tomorrow, just to be safe, for a check up.

I will have Bryan write a detailed account of the whole day, and will post it tomorrow. For now, just know that she is safe at home, curled up in the middle of our bed, snoring.

I can't thank everyone enough.

PS - Photos to come - I was so excited I left my camera in Chapel Hill. I will take lots tomorrow!

This is so heartwarming! Emotion welled up inside me when I read that Bean has been found. All of the folks who showed up for the search party yesterday, some of whom I met while they were in my neighborhood, are an amazingly kind, wonderful group of people!
I look forward to reading the details of Bean's recovery, but for now you all need a long, long night of sleep to re-energize from what had to have been an exhausting ordeal.
Welcome home Bean! Stay!

Can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow! I am so happy that she's healthy and in one piece and is tucked away right where she needs to be - in bed and at home with mom and dad!!

I've loved Bean since I first read her blog. I think we all feel like she is part of our family too. This is a mircle. Strangers are no longer strangers, but friends. There are thousands of angels out there, working and praying for her. I am looking forward to reading Bean's tale. I bet she was happy when she saw you!!! Sleep well, sweet dreams.

I AM SO HAPPY TO READ THIS!!!!

I've been consumed by this story, and even not knowing you or Bean, have found myself dreaming each night of her whereabouts. Every morning started with a Bean check and every night ended with another prayer of her safe return. I am so incredibly happy for everyone and can't wait to see pics. I'm sure she has quite a story to tell- once of course, she's caught up on sleep.

Good luck on your exam tomorrow :)

Do you wonder about how we Humans are given the charge to care for and love our Pets? What an awesome responsiblity! And our animals seem completely willing to rely on and trust to us for help and guardianship. There is no other relationship that seems so well balanced- we give: food, worry, medicine, vet payments; and we get: respect and love unconditional and open. And it isn't even a quid pro quo. It's only a quid. . .or a pro quo. They love us . . .almost no matter what we do. And we them, even when they do things that make us nuts. Wow.

I'm glad Bean's story has a happy ending. Great way to start a new week.

It does, indeed, take a village, doesn't it? Shame on the person(s) who removed her from your truck in the first place. Kudos to the Durham Village that cared and pitched in!

Watch your loved ones well and keep them close & safe. Enjoy.

From all the way up here in Maine, my wife and I have been anxiously following your reports and hoping fervently for Bean's safe return home.

As parents of a wonderful pooch of our own, we know not only the anguish you've suffered but the joy you must now feel.

Our best wishes to Bean and you all.

As everyone's been saying, we're so happy for you and Bryan and Bean, Rebecca. I've been checking Bean's blog every day since last Saturday when the email came through our neighborhood's listserv, and we've been out looking for her every chance we get. I'm so happy she's home and safe. I was getting so worried there for the last couple days when there hadn't been any sightings. I can't wait to hear about everything tomorrow! :-)

(P.S. I like the astroturf and sunlamp idea. Bean should learn to like the indoors...a lot.)

Welcome Home Bean! I got goosebumps when I read she was found and home safely. Was ever a dog loved more? Good luck on your exam and let us know when the welcome home party is!
